Brandy Spurgin-Floyd is originally from Trenton, Georgia. Mrs. Spurgin-Floyd graduated with an associate’s degree from Northeast Alabama Community College in Rainsville, Alabama. She graduated from UTC with a bachelor’s degree in Legal Assistant Studies.
Brandy commuted to Nashville School of Law from Chattanooga for 4 years. She graduated from NSL in 2011 (the 100th anniversary of the school) and immediately began private practice.
She handles a wide variety of cases in both civil and criminal courts as well as state and federal courts. These cases include civil cases from car wrecks to employment discrimination and criminal cases from misdemeanors to murder cases.
Charlotte, a native of Chattanooga, graduated from UT Chattanooga in 2009. She attended law school at the University of South Carolina School of Law.
Charlotte’s practice is focused on family law and child welfare/juvenile law. She has dedicated her career to serving children and families in the Chattanooga area. Charlotte began her legal career as a child support enforcement attorney, where she worked on hundreds of child support cases and issues. She spent five years as Associate General Counsel for the Department of Children’s Services. During her time with the State, she litigated over one hundred termination of parental rights cases and efficiently managed hundreds of child welfare cases. Prior to joining the State, she maintained a thriving general practice, where she focused on family and juvenile law.
Charlotte lives in Chattanooga with her husband and three dogs.
Nadia is originally from Lowell, Massachusetts, and has called Chattanooga home since 2010. She graduated from Earlham College with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 2020. She attended law school at New England Law in Boston, and graduated in 2023. She recently passed the Tennessee Bar Exam in 2023.
Nadia is excited to begin her career as an attorney with Spurgin & Mattingly. She interned at our office in the summer of 2021. She has a heart for family law and will be working alongside Charlotte with the family law practice.
Nadia is newly married to her partner, Sam. In her free time, Nadia enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading, and cooking.
Kendall is a North Carolina native who has lived in Chattanooga since 2010. She graduated from UTC with a Bachelor’s of Science in 2020, and graduated with her paralegal certificate from Chattanooga State in 2021.
Kendall started her career as a paralegal with Spurgin & Mattingly when the firm was created. She loves to keep the office running and helping out our clients.
Kendall enjoys spending time outside with family and friends, especially hiking. Utah, specifically Zion National Park, is her favorite place she has hiked.
Jessie is originally from the Mississippi Delta. She graduated from Tennessee Tech University in 2006 with a BFA in Glass Blowing.
Jessie moved to Chattanooga in 2010 and soon after, she and her late husband started a ceramic business called Bean and Bailey Ceramics. After owning and operating a business for over a decade, Jessie decided it was time for a career change. Her passion for criminal justice reform and her desire to help people, especially the incarcerated, led her to the paralegal program at Chattanooga State in 2022.
Jessie feels incredibly lucky to have started her career as a paralegal with Spurgin and Mattingly. She hopes that she can use her skills to shrink the justice gap a little and help fight for justice for all.
Bailey Nichols is originally from Murfreesboro, Tennessee. She graduated from UTC in 2023 with a bachelor's in Political Science and Public Service with a minor in Psychology. She plans to attend Nashville School of Law in the fall of 2024.
Bailey is truly passionate about the law and uses her skills to help clients to the best of her ability. She is especially interested in criminal defense.
Bailey enjoys spending time with her friends and family, reading, and trying out new restaurants. She is excited to start her career with Spurgin & Mattingly.
